OUR STORY
Buisman began in 1922 as a storage business by the water in Zwolle. From these beginnings, the company developed over the years into a specialized partner for the storage, processing and packaging of powdered products.
Much has changed since then. Our activities have expanded, production processes have developed and new facilities have been established. What remains is the character of a family-owned business built on commitment, expertise and collaboration.
Today, the fourth generation leads the company. With respect for what previous generations have built, we continue to invest in the opportunities of tomorrow.
OUR HISTORY
1922
Buisman began in 1922 as a storage and transshipment business by the water in Zwolle. Among the products stored and transported were milk powders. These activities laid the foundations for a family-owned company that would continue to evolve over the generations.
THROUGH THE YEARS
From the 1960s onwards, Buisman expanded into blending and packaging milk powders. Building on its strong dairy expertise, the company developed specialized services for processing, blending and packaging powdered products. This was followed by further specialization in infant nutrition, supported by investments in modern production lines and carefully controlled manufacturing environments.
TODAY
Today, Buisman is a fourth-generation family-owned business serving customers around the world from Zwolle. With expertise in dairy powders, dry ingredients and specialized infant nutrition, we combine more than a century of experience with modern facilities, high quality standards and a lasting commitment to long-term partnerships.
PURVEYOR TO THE ROYAL HOUSEHOLD
On 4 December 2025, Buisman was awarded the Dutch designation Hofleverancier (Purveyor to the Royal Household). This prestigious royal distinction recognises more than a century of entrepreneurship, continuity and strong ties to Zwolle.
